The best time to plant trees was 20 years ago.
Quite a few clients say during our first or second meeting with Eelah, things like, ‘I wish we had done this sooner’ or ‘I feel like we’ve made a lot of mistakes’ or ‘I have financial dread over past decisions’.
As nice as some of those things can be for my ego, receiving recognition for the value we’re adding, it does our clients a disservice.
We always say at this point, “Look, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is right now.”
Point is, the best time to start taking your financial life seriously, the best time to start building a life plan, the best time to start interpreting what really keeps you up at night and what you really want in life, is now. Cos there’s not a great deal we can do about what did or didn’t happen 20 years or even 20 minutes ago.
We look at the now and we plan for the future.
In 20 years’ time, our clients will be stoked that they finally planted that tree.
